We’ve opened a new poll on the blog. I buy a lot of computer books, or at least try to get my hands on them any way I can. I’m curious about where you get your computer or technical books. Or maybe you don’t, which is reasonable given the state of today’s economy. But if […]

PowerShell In Production Poll – Closed
We’re going to close out the PowerShell in production poll. Thanks to all who responded. The margin narrowed a bit but still over 70% of you, or at least those who frequent the SAPIEN blog, are running PowerShell in a production environment. For organizations who aren’t I understand the reasons and believe that PowerShell v2 will bring more of you on board. Of course I hope you won’t wait, there’s no reason not to at least learning PowerShell. Sure, PowerShell v2.0 will offer lots of new bells and whistles, but you won’t have wasted any time learning PowerShell v1.0.

We’re starting to get registrations for the PowerShell Boot Camp to be held in Dallas, TX February 9-11, 2009. This will be unlike any other training experience you’ve ever had. Techmentor Las Vegas ’08
If you didn’t make it to Techmentor this year, you missed out on some great stuff. As promised, here are a collection of zip files with my conference demos. If you didn’t make it to the show you are still welcome to download, although they may not all make sense to you out of context. I think I’ve gathered everything but if there as a particular demo you can’t find, let me know and I’ll either check my library or attempt to re-create it.
PowerShell Boot Camp Coming to Dallas
This summer we ran a PowerShell Boot Camp that was very popular and successful. People have been asking when we’re going to hold another one. Your question has been answered. I will be doing the boot camp in Dallas, TX February 9-11, 2009. Now before you get too excited, be warned that this is not your typical instructor led training.

I wanted to make sure everybody knew about another site in the ScriptingAnswers.com family. We have another area we refer to as our Essentials site. Here we gather tips, best practices, sample scripts and more. Coverage includes not only PowerShell but VBScript as well. This is also where you’ll find conference slide decks and demo […]

Server 2008 Revealed
I run a few Windows Server 2008 servers in VMWare for my test and demonstration environment. Honestly, I put them up very quickly not really knowing what I was doing, especially with Server Core. If I had the time, I would have looked at Greg Shield’s book Windows Server 2008: What’s New/What’s Changed. Like you I don’t have time to read an exhaustive door stop of a book (not that those titles don’t have value). What I needed was to learn about only the new Server 2008 features. I’ve been around long enough to know what a server is. All I needed was information on what was new in Server 2008 and what things changed from Server 2003.

Techmentor NYC Wrap Up
Sorry you didn’t make it to the Big Apple for the last Techmentor conference. It was a small and intimate show which I always like because it is easier to talk with attendees and answer questions. Plus your odds are increased for all the freebies, include free books!
Here’s a taste of what you missed.
