Anyone rememebr the old, old, text-based computer adventure game, “Collosal Caves?” Well, I’ve created a Windows PowerShell-based “homage” to that original game. It’s packaged as a PowerShell snap-in, meaning you play by running cmdlets in PowerShell. It’s in the attached ZIP file, along with instructions.

I want to stress that this is alpha-quality code – I haven’t finished testing all the possible permutations. I can’t promise to provide quick technical support for it at this point, but if you do run into a problem, give me the details in the PowerShell forum on ScriptingAnswers.com. If you get an error of some kind, go into the folder where you’ve put the DLL and grab the game.xml and status.xml files; ZIP those and attach them to your forums post, please. This is primarily a weekends-only project for me, so please be patient with me – I will try to work through anything that comes up, and I’m still very much doing my own testing, but this is just a “for fun” project and I have to focus on the “for work” stuff first :).

If and when I get it working reliably, we’ll see about maybe posting some source code so you can all see how these cmdlets were built, how it uses the XML configuration files, and so forth.

Enjoy.

Okay… I got a little creative over the holidays.
