For example, check out <ahref=\"http:\/\/www.powergadgets.com\/\">www.powergadgets.com<\/a>, a companyproducing graphical widgets &#8211; meters, graphs, gauges, maps, and so forth&#8211; that integrate into Windows PowerShell. You don&#8217;t need a complexdevelopment environment (PrimalScript will do nicely) since they leverageWindows PowerShell&#8217;s simplistic environment. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 face=Arial><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 face=Arial><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'>What&#8217;s the point? Imagine a desktop widget that lookslike a speedometer &#8211; but it&#8217;s tracking the processor utilization ofyour favorite server. That&#8217;s pretty cool. The widgets can even integrateinto the Vista Sidebar. They can connect to SQL Server to create visualrepresentations of data there &#8211; maybe extract some info from your SMSdatabase, for example, and display a chart of machines which are Vista-capable.As more machines are upgraded, and as SMS inventories them, your little chartwill fill itself in automagically. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 face=Arial><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 face=Arial><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'>This is very sexy stuff. In fact, the biggest trick will beconvincing yourself that it&#8217;s <i><span style='font-style:italic'>easy, <\/span><\/i>becausein the past this type of stuff would have taken gobs of time to code and writein .NET. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 face=Arial><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 face=Arial><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'>As more third-party Windows PowerShell add-ins start toappear on the landscape, I&#8217;ll blog about them here.
