Topics include planning, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, System Center Virtual Machine Manager, working with virtual machines and more. A solid technical reviewer will have a background in Windows servers, virtualization, SCVMM and Hyper-V. We like to have reviewers that represent a cross section of the community in terms of organizational size and industry. Reviewers from a small school district with a single Hyper-V server are just as important to us as someone from a Fortune 100 company with an extensive Hyper-V farm.

Your task as technical reviewer is to read every chapter (Microsoft Word format) and return a review form. We expecting technical reviewers to primarily identify mistakes. But we also want reviewers to tell what what material isn’t being covered that maybe should be included. is there any material that isn’t really required? Is the chapter easy to understand? Our technical reviewers play a critical role in our publication process. By the time a book hits the presses, it has been vetted by your peers as a complete and accurate reference. The book should be everything that you want on a topic and a title you want on your shelf.

To award your efforts, the reviewer who identify’s the most mistakes (and offers suggestions for correction) and/or contributes the most constructive feedback will receive a $50 AMEX gift card. Any reviewer who finishes ALL chapters is entitled to a free print copy of the book when published. You must return a review form for every chapter in a timely fashion. I’m expecting about 17 chapters and an appendix. You’ll have about 2-3 days for each chapter. You can drop out at any time, and reviewers will be dropped for not returning reviews in a timely manner.

If you are interested, send an email to jhicks at sapien.com. Do not request to be a reviewer via a blog comment. use a subject of “Hyper-V Reviewer”. Please include a brief description of your background and why you think you would be a good reviewer. Reviewers will be chosen on a first come, first served basis. You’ll be notified by email if selected. If not selected don’t fret. I usually hold a few names in reserve as there are always a few reviewers who have to drop off and I like to make sure we have an adequate number of voices.

SAPIEN Press has yet another book in the pipeline that is ready for technical reviews.
