SAPIEN Technologies released today the first ever iPhone application for Windows PowerShell users: iPowerShell. The first version of iPowerShell is an easy to use reference tool for users of Microsoft’s PowerShell scripting language. It contains full descriptions of each and every core PowerShell Version 1 cmdlet, their syntax, parameters and examples of proper usage as well as the complete set of “about item” help topics.<\/p>\n

Let’s take a quick tour…<\/p>\n

This first screenshot shows a part of the alphabetized list of help topics. Here we see the first few “about” item topics. Tapping on one of these items displays the standard “about” help text that comes with PowerShell.<\/p>\n

Scrolling further down the screen (or using the tappable index on the right), you will find all of the stock cmdlets listed.\u00a0iPowerShell also has a quick search function that allows the user to type in partial search terms which results in a pared-down list of PowerShell cmdlets that include the term in their name. Tap on a cmdlet and you will see the info screen for that cmdlet.<\/p>\n

Certain pieces of information such as the parameter explanations and examples are reached by another tap on the specific cell. For example, tapping on the EXAMPLES cell displays examples of that cmdlet’s usage.<\/p>\n

Of course, iPowerShell also displays its information in landscape mode. This makes it easier to view some of the help text.<\/p>\n
