In the latest service release of PowerShell HelpWriter 2015, you will notice a few changes to the Select Module<\/em> dialog that appears when creating a new help file.<\/p>\n

Sorting Modules<\/strong><\/p>\n

The module list can now be sorted by clicking on the respective column headers. In addition, we now added a new column that displays the module\u2019s company information.<\/p>\n

Filtering Modules<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Tired of scrolling down a long list of modules? No more. You now can filter the modules by company using the new drop down list:<\/p>\n

Choose to display all the modules, non-Microsoft modules, or modules created by a specific company:<\/p>\n

Browse for Module<\/strong><\/p>\n

Previously PowerShell HelpWriter 2015 required that your module be placed in a discoverable location defined by the environmental variable PSModulePath<\/em>. With the new browse feature, this is no longer the case. Now you can click on the Browse<\/em> button in the Select Module<\/em> dialog and select the module manually.<\/p>\n

Default Save Location<\/strong><\/p>\n

We changed the default save location for generated help files so that it defaults to the location that PowerShell requires. PowerShell HelpWriter will now create and set the default save location to the \u201cen-US\u201d language specific folder located in the same directory as the module.<\/p>\n

Commented Information<\/strong><\/p>\n

For your convenience, we now include commented information that contains the name of the module and the version used to generate the help file.<\/p>\n
